The information age has seen the rapid incorporation of sensors into a wide range of structures, vehicles, and devices to provide continual feedback on their performance. These sensors need to have a small form factor and operate on low energy to ease system integration without impeding performance. DAVWIRE is currently engaged in the development of flexible energy harvesting devices to be used as self-powered sensors for applications in wearable technology and structural health monitoring that require small conformable sensors with a long operation life.
To bring this innovative technology to the commercial market, DAVWIRE is partnering with Canadian universities and colleges with expertise in energy harvesting materials and their application. DAVWIRE has also developed in-house chemical laboratory, performance characterization, and prototyping facilities to accelerate the development of this technology.
